Shaper Origin

Shaper Origin – A Handheld CNC

Shaper Origin Router

Shaper Origin is a handheld CNC router that has the familiar form factor of a traditional router, with the precision of high-end CNC machine. You steer Origin following the path on-screen, while it makes small “auto corrections” within a 1/2” range, leaving you with perfect results. Cutting a joinery, profiles or patterns, and engraving for signage can all be handled directly on-tool, no programming required. It also works with almost any design software you use.

Shaper Origin at the Sun City West Woodworking Club

The Sun City West Woodworking Club has acquired a Shaper Origin. This includes the Shaper origin Handheld router, The Shaper Workstation, Shaper Plate and Shaper Trace. The Workstation and Plate are used with the Shaper Origin to support mounting materials for the Shaper. The Shaper Frame is used with the Shaper Trace app to convert drawings to digital format that can be used in Shaper designs.

The Shaper Origin in the Sun City West Woodworking Club is located in a workbench/cabinet, across from the mill. Club members that have been trained and certified may check out the workbench key at the Tool Crib. The workbench contains:

  • Shaper Origin
  • Shaper Workstation
  • Shaper Plate

There are small tools, vacuum hose, clamps and accessories for use with the Shaper Origin.

A dedicated Vacuum is located beside the Shaper Workbench for dust collection.

The club also has a Shaper Trace and an app that will scan hand drawings on a phone and convert to vectors for use in shaper Origin. The file created by Trace are svg format and can be used on the Wood Club’s CNC and lasers as well.
