Band Saw Types
There are two categories of band saws based on the blades. The “Large Blade” type is just used for large pieces of wood and tree trunks. The “Finer” blades are more for light duty work and because of their thinner size they can make circular cuts such as scrolls. Band Saws have two advantages. Frist it can cut large pieces of wood by raising the guide. The other is being able to make vertical cuts into wood versus when you don’t want to cut all of the way through, versus a circular blade.
The large blade is usually about an inch wide, and the teeth are large and far apart.
The finer blades can be as small 1/4 inch and much smaller teeth and closer together. They will cut circles.
