Basic Saw accessories

SLED

The sled has two tracks that fit in the angle miter groves and are parrell to the saw blade. The back fence is perpendicular to the saw blade, therefore, making accurate 90-degree cuts. Because of the length of the back fence a long piece of wood can be held secularly and is easier to control then using an angle miter. A stop can be attached to the back fence so that multiple pieces can be repeatedly cut. The sleds are hung on the back side of each saw table.

Feather boards are used to hold wood tightly to a fence (horizontal) or the table (vertical).

Push Stick

The most common push stick has a notch at the back on the bottom to contact the back edge of the wood. Some Push sticks may have a flat bottom with a rough or rubber surface to keep contact with the wood. It is never a bad idea to always use a push stick, but especially when cutting smaller pieces when your fingers will be near the saw blade.
